Iron Maiden’s Nicko McBrain Jams ‘Flight of Icarus’ With 10-Year-Old Singer Read More: Iron Maiden’s Nicko McBrain Jams With 10-Year-Old Singer

kidironIron Maiden are a timeless band, so fans come in all shapes, sizes and ages. It does our heart good to see a kid get into heavy metal, which is why this video of 10-year-old Devin Shattuck jamming “Flight of Icarus” with Iron Maiden drummer Nicko McBrain is so awe-inspiring.

This past weekend, McBrain was celebrating the sixth anniversary of his Florida barbecue restaurant, Rock N Roll Ribs. Nicko put on a show for the occasion, jamming Iron Maiden classics with his band Nicko McBrain and the McBrainiacs. For “Flight of Icarus,” Devin jumped onstage to lend his voice and it was all caught on tape.

It’s a tall task to cover the voice of Bruce Dickinson, as any ill-fated karaoke victim knows all too well. However, 10-year-old Devin holds his own during “Flight of Icarus,” confidently and comfortably manning the mic for the Piece of Mind staple. Iron Maiden actually haven’t played the song live since 1986, so this is probably the closest you’ll get to a new live performance.

Devin Shattuck is the youngest member of the Coral Springs, Fla. School of Rock house band, having sang since age three and played drums since age four. Keep it up, dude!

Watch Nicko McBrain and his young apprentice tackle “Flight of Icarus” in the clip!
